A simple smile can bring people together as it is a simple action that conveys plenty of emotions and thoughts. This is the reason dental hygiene is very important if you wish to preserve your pearly whites and keep your smile looking bright and dazzling.
Unfortunately, unavoidable incidents can damage your teeth and they eventually need to be removed. A few decades ago, once a permanent tooth falls out, then you will have to live your life without it. Today, however, owing to medical advancements, you can now replace them with artificial teeth, known as dentures.
Mesa dentists point to two kinds of dentures: complete and partial dentures.
A complete denture is just as its name implies: it is a denture that completely covers the entire upper or lower mouth. This is used for patients who have lost all of their upper, lower, or all of their teeth possibly due to old age or illnesses. This kind of denture is placed inside the mouth once all the teeth in that arch have been removed.
On the other hand, a partial denture is used if you are only missing one or two teeth. It uses a metal framework that rests on the jaw and may sometimes use crowns to provide support. They are designed to latch onto the gumline of the missing teeth so as to stay in place. For the partial kind, there are also two types: the fixed and removable kind.
All in all, prevention is still better than cure, and if you can take care of your teeth better while you are young, you can reduce the likelihood of them falling off as you grow older. No matter what happens, though, you can always have a full set of teeth when you smile, thanks to dentures.
